Black and White Dog from Bakau.
![]() Sunday, June 06, 2010 The black and white dog from Bakau has been wandering the streets for a long time and we had to get the vet to sedate him. He was so un-trusting of people and although he would take food he wouldn't allow us near him. He has settled in at a members home but clearly is not used to love and attention. He has been hit by a car at some point and his leg has healed but hangs limply. He is now named Spot and you can already see the difference in him after just 2 weeks. He has sarcoptic mange, is malnourished and is very itchy. Its early days but he's doing well at the moment. (Sarcoptic Mange is an extremely contagious condition which affects dogs and less often cats and is caused by a tiny mite called Sarcoptes Scabei. Intense itching is accompanied by redness and thickening of the skin and extensive hair loss. It can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between Sarcoptic Mange and certain types of skin allergies and a skin scraping may be required to confirm the diagnosis.) Update June 15th 2010. Look at the amazing new photos taken of Spot - improving daily thanks to loving care and attention (and frequent special washes) from a devoted carer. |
