Woofs and Kittys Dog Show in Battersea.
![]() Saturday May 14th dawned bright and sunny and that was the start of the amazing day and all the hard work and dedication of Lynne, Wendy and another loyal supporter of ACA, called Sue Silk. They all did a brilliant job and raised an amazing £706 for ACA and the stars of the day we feel must surely be Milly and Melon. Please read Lynne and Wendy's story below and enjoy the photos.
Meet Melon and Milly! We found Melon in the street during the rainy season in The Gambia, West Africa. His ears had been cut off and he was starving to death. We took him home and nursed him back to health and he became part of our family consisting of several street dogs who also had been neglected, abused or injured. Milly was a terrified tiny puppy living alone under a container near the beach Helpless and very emaciated, it took several days of feeding her before we could gain her trust and take her home. We already had several dogs, so re-homed her only to find that she was being severely abused and beaten. Tied up in the blazing sun with no food and water and unable to lie down as her chain was too short, she was sitting in her own faeces and had maggot-infested open wounds. We vowed never to let her out of our sight again. We brought Melon and Milly back to England. They were the lucky ones. But we never forget those left behind. Animal Care Association of The Gambia was started up to try to tackle this huge problem. They do a brilliant job but are seriously under funded and need your help. They rely on tourist donations and are extremely grateful for any funds received. London contacts: www. animalcaregambia.com Lynne 07810 595 404email:acagambia@yahoo.com Wendy 07894 657 474
